DIY Birthday Banner + Free Cut File {Silhouette}

Looking for a free DIY birthday banner for an upcoming birthday party? I browsed all over Pinterest, but I couldn’t find a birthday banner for free that I liked. I saw some cute unicorn files, but none were free or quite what I was looking for. So, I decided to make my own and share it while I was at it!

I mean, there are lots to choose from on Etsy, but I am such a procrastinator that I didn’t have the 2+ plus weeks required for a custom banner. Plus, why own a Silhouette Cameo if you’re not going to cut things, right!? This banner came to be after numerous searches. Then, I also designed cupcake toppers and used a few cute unicorn freebies I found on pinterest. A post is coming soon with a roundup of FREE unicorn party printables!

Awesome free DIY unicorn birthday banner printable and Silhouette cut file!

I have recently been working on a Silhouette Design course, and this is the first time I’ve put what I learned to use! You can obviously tweak this banner to any size or color you want, but please only use it for personal use. Contact me if you are interested in a commercial license.

Awesome free DIY unicorn banner printable for a unicorn party!Olivia had such a great party. I was worried due to her recent diagnosis of mild Autism on top of Sensory Processing Disorder (more on that later!) After an extended warm-up period of time (we slowly introduced her and asked people not to make a fuss when they saw her-which is incredibly hard to do when you see a cute baby, i know- and to let her approach them). I was also going to skip singing and opening gifts. All of that eye contact is intimidating for a toddler with autism. She did so well and suprised me by (albiet it, shyly) loving the singing and she even opened a few gifts! Ultimately, the party was all about her, so this made me happier than I can express.

This is the last year I will be able to pick a theme as I’m sure she will demand have something to say about it next year!

I wanted it to be ombre shades of pink with white unicorn ends. The cut file works for the banner on 8×10 card stock longways, and first I did 3 dark pink, 2 medium pink, 2 light pink, and 2 white pages of card stock. Then, I printed happy birthday on regular gold vinyl using Andara Script at 190 pt to fit onto the card stock.  This banner turned out perfectly strung on some basic white ribbon, and I got so many compliments!

Someone pointed out that you can also re-use the banner for future birthdays, just swap out the unicorn ends for whatever theme you are doing! I wish I had thought of this!

I have separated the cut files.
