DIY Hello Goodbye Mat on Silhouette 2 Ways + Free Silhouette Cut File

Looking for a DIY Hello Goodbye doormat project with free silhouette cut files? You’ve come to the right place! The Silhouette Cameo is amazing for cutting stencils, which you can customize to any font or size you want! While there are a ton of Hello Goodbye doormat DIYs out there, you can truly make it your own (or use mine!)

Materials needed for DIY Doormat on Silhouette Cameo

  • stencil material – , scrap , cardboard, anything you want to use!

Directions to make DIY Hello Goodbye Doormat

  1. Measure your doormat. (mine was – and most are – 30×18 in)
  2. Draw a rectangle into silhouette and change the dimensions to match your measurements
  3. Make your design. I made 2 “Hello Goodbye” mats because I think they’re cute!
  4. Cut the design onto vinyl or a thick cardstock. Neither stays in place well on the material of the mat, so you can use painter’s tape to hold it in place temporarily.
  5. Weed it backwards. This means weed out what you want to paint.
  6. Use outdoor paint and stencil brushes to paint your design on. Depending on the color and brand, you may want to do 2-3 coats. I hear some people use spray paint, but it is hard to be as precise and if your design is intricate, you may end up smearing it.

Here are the 2 designs I came up with along with the free silhouette cut files (for personal use only):
