Directions to make the Unicorn End Pieces (+Free Silhouette Cut File)

Here are step-by-step directions to make the DIY unicorn birthday banner pieces from the free birthday banner silhouette cameo cut file DIY project I featured to celebrate my daughter Livvy’s second birthday. You can make the birthday banner and every year just swap out the end pieces for whatever your current theme is! That way, you only have to make the banner once.

Directions to Make DIY Unicorn Birthday Banner:

Step by step instructions for assembling the free unicorn banner

  1. Gather the materials. First, I used black vinyl only because I was out of black cardstock. Of course, either is fine! Then, I used gold glitter cardstock for the unicorn horn, and, finally, varying shades of pink for the ears, flowers, and other banner pieces.Step by step instructions for assembling the free unicorn banner
  2. Glue the inner ear pieces onto the unicorn topper. I used spray adhesive and Elmer’s glue, mainly because I’m out of double-sided scrapbooking tape. On that note, I’d recommend scrapbooking tape for the reason that the spray adhesive was messy and hard to wash off my hands.Step by step instructions for assembling the free unicorn banner
  3. Place eyes on the banner next. Make sure to center them as much as possible. Although, I just eyeballed it!Step by step instructions for assembling the free unicorn banner
  4. Finally, Glue topper onto the back of banner and reinforce by gluing flower pieces on the front, overlapping the topper. The topper is heavy, especially if you use glitter cardstock. For this reason, I’d recommend reinforcing it by gluing the flowers onto it as well.Step by step instructions for assembling the free unicorn banner
  5. (Optional) Add flower accents using the cutouts from the pink banner pages. You can also just use a paper punch or the Silhouette to cut out little dots. Also, I always save the cutouts. Ya never know when they will come in handy, like for confetti and table scatter!Step by step instructions for assembling the free unicorn banner
  6. Repeat for other 3 banners. Aren’t they pretty? Finally, your banner is complete!
