My First Silhouette Card! {DIY 3D Pop Up Princess Castle Birthday Card}

I am so proud of myself! I recently posted about my frustrations with my new Silhouette Cameo 3. Well, my mom had the baby for an overnight visit, so I spent all afternoon fighting with figuring out this machine with so many possibilities. We finally came to a compromise. I put the settings way higher than recommended, and we have a finished product!!

We are going to Livvy’s cousin’s 6th birthday party, so I decided to make a custom birthday card rather than go out and spend money on one. I had tried to be practical, using my Cameo store credit that comes with the machine on things such as birthday cards, thank you notes, gift boxes, etc. So I chose this adorable 3D Pop Up Princess Castle Birthday Card designed by Lori Whitlock. It’s adorable and only uses 3 colors of cardstock. I love that Lori offers YouTube tutorials on how to put together her paper creations. It seems pretty obvious after watching it, but staring at the design on the Silhouette software left me feeling pretty clueless. If you’ve never cut a card before, the videos are a huge help! Now it makes so much more sense.

I was so hesitant to mar it with my handwriting, but we had to sign it so she knew who it was from! It’s so pretty and has little windows and doors you can bend open. I even made a second one to keep for the next party we’re invited to for a little girl!
